About
A death clock is a morbid toy. It is also the only health metric anyone actually remembers.
There are dozens of life expectancy calculators. Almost all of them are one of two things: a 1990s form that spits out a number with no explanation, or a paid app that gates the answer behind a subscription and thirty questions.
This one is free, takes about a minute, shows every step of its working, and never sees your data. It exists because the interesting part was never the date — it is the gap between where you are and where you could be, which almost nobody bothers to show you.
What makes this one different
- Real actuarial foundations. The SSA 2023 period life table, reproduced to two decimal places, rather than a made-up formula.
- Published hazard ratios. Every factor cites the cohort study or meta-analysis it came from, and you can tap any row to see it.
- A survival band, not just a date. Because the honest answer to “when will I die” is a distribution.
- The recoverable years. The number that is actually useful.
- Genuine privacy. No account, no database, no analytics on your answers. The maths runs on your device.
What it is not
It is not medical advice, not a diagnosis, and not a prediction about you. It is a well-sourced statistical average dressed up in neon. If the result worries you, the right next step is a doctor, not a recalculation.

Corrections to the model are genuinely welcome — the methodology is published precisely so it can be argued with.
